There are
four main scheduled airlines to Amritsar: Turkmenistan, Jet Airways, Uzbekistan and Air India.
One of the most popular airline is Turkmenistan. There are 6
Turkmenistan Airlines Flights a week to Amritsar - 4 times from Birmingham to
Amritsar and 2 times from London Heathrow to Amritsar. There is a short stop over of around 90 minutes at Ashgabat.
Flights are very reliable, punctual and although the service is basic, they offer amazing value for money - around £100 -
£200 cheaper than Jet Airways.
Jet Airways is the only direct non stop flight from London Heathrow to Amritsar and has a reputation for excellent
service. In our opinion it is the best way to fly to Amritsar from London although the prices tend to be at a premium since the
flights get booked quickly. There are now 7 London
to Amritsar Jet Airways
Flights a week, making Jet Airways the market
leader in the UK to Amritsar route.
Uzbekistan flies to Amritsar from London 2 times a week via Tashkent. Stopover at Tashkent is around 2 to 2.5 hours.
Like Turkmenistan,
Uzbekistan Airways Flights offer amazing value for money so if you are happy to stop over for 2 hours, you will save yourself
some money.
Air India is the only airline which flies non stop from Birmingham to Amritsar. It has around 4 flights a week, Unfortunately
Air India
Flights have had a patchy record for punctuality and
can suffer major delays. Air India prices are normally higher than Turkmenistan but
nowadays, people are increasingly booking Turkmenistan in preference to Air India - they would rather have a 2 hour stop over
at Ashgabat than a major delay from Birmingham or Amritsar.
Air Slovakia flies Birmingham to Amritsar but it is treated as a chartered airline by the Civil Aviation Authority, Amritsar
Travel chooses not to sell Air Slovakia and we would urge passengers to make sure they get an ATOL number and an ATOL receipt
with their tickets. If a chartered airline goes bankrupt, only an ATOL number and an ATOL receipt will allow you to get your
money from the Civil Aviation Authority. Do not rely on an ATOL logo - ask for an ATOL number and go to www.atol.org.uk
and enter the ATOL number to check whether the Travel Agent you are paying the money to is bonded by the CAA. Unlike Amritsar
Travel which is directly bonded with the CAA, many other agents are retail agents and therefore do not have their own ATOL.
Beware your money may be at risk!
